Colour Run
Combining fun, fitness and fundraising for Mercy Works projects.
The first whole-school Colour Run was held in 2023 and quickly became a highlight of the St Aloysius College calendar. Held in Victoria Park in Adelaide’s eastern parklands, the event combines fun, fitness and fundraising in a celebration of community spirit.
Dressed in white T-shirts, students make their way around the loop track and through a series of obstacles while being showered with brightly coloured powder and sprays of water. The result is a joyful spectacle of colour, laughter and energy that brings students of all ages together.
Through sponsorship, students raise funds for Mercy Works projects, including Catherine House, the Adelaide Day Centre and Carrington Cottages, all of which provide care, support and safe spaces for women and men experiencing hardship.
The Colour Run continues a long tradition of fundraising through physical activity at St Aloysius College. It replaced the annual Walkathon, which began in 1999. In the Walkathon, secondary students completed a 10-kilometre walk from SAC and along the River Torrens, while primary students walked to Victoria Park, before the entire school community gathered back at the College for a celebratory sausage sizzle.
Today, the Colour Run reflects the College’s commitment to living the Mercy values of compassion, service and community engagement, while creating lasting memories and making a difference in the lives of others.
