Campion Jordan Building
The building was named after Sr Campion Jordan (Sr Deirdre Jordan), who arrived as a boarder at St Aloysius College in 1939 and later served as Principal from 1954 until 1968. Under Sr Deirdre’s leadership, St Aloysius became a progressive school, and one that valued the independence of its students. This new building signalled the focus of the college from Angas Street to Wakefield Street.

Wakefield Street Expansion
Land facing Wakefield Street was purchased to be used as a sports ground and netball courts.
April 9, 1967
Campion Jordan Building Opened
The Campion Jordan Building, with an entrance onto Wakefield Street, was opened to accommodate senior students. Designed as a dedicated Matriculation (Year 12) Centre, it also included classrooms for other year levels, science laboratories and a range of staff facilities. A copper sculpture of Christ was installed on the southern wall of the Wakefield Street building. Created by sculptor Tom Bass, it was donated by Mrs. Lena Jordan, mother of Sr Deirdre Jordan.
1967
Jordan Courtyard
As part of the landscaping for the new building, a fish pond was installed, becoming a popular place for students to relax and gather with friends.
1967 – 2003
Jordan Courtyard
School assemblies were held in the Jordan Courtyard until 2003 when they were moved to the Tram Barn and then in 2008, to the Redden Centre Undercroft.
2014
Year 12 Centre
The Year 12 Centre was erected in front of the northern wing of the Campion Jordan Building, creating a purpose-built space for senior students with a covered veranda at ground level. The building houses student classrooms, a study and recreational space along with a staff study on the top floor. The copper sculpture of Christ that overlooked the Jordan courtyard was relocated to the Carmel Bourke Expressive Arts Centre lift tower.
